“You’d rather make up fantasy version of somebody in your head than be with a real person.”

Lara Jean writes letters to boys when she had feelings for them, and she hid it in a box. However, one day those letters get sent out to all the boys she’s had a crush on, including her sister’s ex-boyfriend, and Lara Jean now has to deal with the consequences.

I was pleasantly surprised by To All The Boys I’ve Loved Before. It was a cute little fluffy read which I am very happy I read. It is one of those books that will put you in a good mood.

Lara Jean is a very entertaining character, naive at times, but I found her likeable. At first, I didn’t like Peter. He seemed like a jerk most of the times, but underneath it all, he is a pretty decent guy and I…

Talking Taboo: Writing About Sensitive Topics

writing sensitive topics

The Daily Post

Over in the Commons for Writing 201, we’ve been working on finding our angles as writers. I’ve found myself responding to the same question from several bloggers: “I want to write about X, but I don’t want to seem too opinionated. What should I do?”

Hanging your opinion out on a global laundry line can be scary, especially when you’re writing about potentially contentious topics. We often tiptoe around those stalwarts of family dinner table arguments, politics and religion, but any issue on which two reasonable bloggers can differ can be divisive — and therefore scary — to tackle publicly. Human sexuality. Parenting decisions. Food choices. Who should win The Bachelor.

Today, let’s look at some dos and don’ts for writing about sensitive topics in ways that are both constructive and true to you.

First, a deep breath.

Before we delve into specifics, a pause and a deep breath for…

Supernova:Ksatria,Putri,Dan Bintang Jatuh-Dewi Lestari

I give 4 stars from 5 for this book!

I give 4 stars from 5 for this book!

“Dulu aku adalah pujangga
Seorang arwah pujangga
Tersasar masuk kedalam tubuh mungilku
Dulu aku berkata-kata bak mutiara nan wangi
Pikiranku bagai seribu persimpangan
Dalam sekotak korek api
Karena itulah aku anomali.”
(p 83)

Sebanyak itulah aku merindukanmu puteri..”

4 dari 5 bintang yang kupunya!

An Abundance of Katherines

an abundance of katherines by john green

an abundance of katherines by john green

“He liked all books, because he liked the mere act of reading, the magic of turning scratches on a page into words inside his head.”

An Abundance of Katherines is another New York Times bestselling book that written by John Green.I don’t love this novel as much as I love Looking For Alaska to be honest, and well I also still prefer The Fault In Our Stars than this one. But,never mind,It’s UNIQUE and worth-reading!
Collin Singleton is a child prodigy who loves anagram so much.He can anagram everything!Anagram is rearranging a word to another word that contained the same letters but has a total different meaning. For examples;’stop’can be ‘posts’if we rearrange the letters. It is fun! So,yeah this Collin Singleton really has weird hobbies. He love anagram and Katherines! He had been in relationships with 19 different girls named Katherine and had been dumped by most of the Katherines except Katherine 4.
The story began when Collin was dumped by K-19.He loved her so much.So he got depressed. His best friend-Hassan-asked him to have a holiday together in order to make Collin forget K-19.They hadn’t visited many places yet when they arrived in a small town in Tennesse and got a job. They worked there for a widow called Hollis who has a tampon string factory and a daughter named Lindsey Lee Wells.
Collin and Hassan spent their summer in Lindsey’s house.Collin try to make a mathematics formula about Katherines-Collins relationship. He hope he can predict exactly how a relationship between a Katherine and a Collin will be.A complex mathematics formula can be found easily in this book. The stories about Collin’s relationship with the Katherines during his life are told in a haphazard chapters. It’s a bit confusing. The story of K-19 come first, before K-1,then K-4 come in the middle,et cetera.Lindsey and Collin worked together in the factory and also in making the formula.Actually Collin was in love with Lindsey who had had a boyfriend named Collin (The Other Collin),but he didn’t realize it.
Collin and Lindsey made up at the end of the book. And she is his first Lindsey!

My favorite quotes are :
1.You don’t remember what happened. What you remember becomes what happened.
2.I will get forgotten, but the stories will last.
3.You can’t stop the future from coming.
An Abundance of Katherines is suitable for 12 years + readers, not younger than 12,please!The plot flows a bit disorganize and confusing but it still enjoyable!
I give 3 stars from 5 for An Abundance of Katherines!Keep on reading, guys!

Looking For Alaska

“How can I get out from this labyrinth of suffering?Forgive.”
Looking For Alaska is novel by John Green that I love the most.I have read The Fault In Our Stars and An Abundance of Katherines before, but I don’t love them as I love Looking For Alaska.

Looking For Alaska tells a story about a student called Milles who didn’t have friends and not really good looking or attractive, and never falling in love, never before he went to a boarding school in Alabama. In his new boarding school,he met many kinds of interesting people with different characters. He met The Colonel-his room mate-who finally introduced him to a girl called Alaska and a Japanese guy called Takumi.Together they formed a friendship. They play pranks, having a good time.Milles finally fell in love with Alaska(who already had a boyfriend named Jake).Milles tried hard to deny his feeling to Alaska,he had a girlfriend too(named Lara)!Alaska actually was in love with Milles but she didn’t want to disappointed Jake. She didn’t want to screw up anything again.Alaska had an unhappy life and childhood, she felt that she screw up everything.Alaska dead in the middle of the book and then her best friends looking for her death’s cause.Nobody know whether her death was a suicide or an accident. This book ended beautifully and make me cry!I love the characters,I love the plot, and I love the moral value!I can’t deny that this book contained so many boozers, naughty guys, smoking students,et cetera, but still I tell you that this books has touched me.It tells the reality,it tells us how does life goes on!

My favourite quotes this book are :
1.How can I get out from this labyrinth of suffering?Staright and Fast.”-Alaska Young
2..How can I get out from this labyrinth of suffering?Forgive.”-Milles
3.Sometimes you lose a battle, but mischief always wins the war.”-Alaska Young
4.Who in the world I am?Ah,that’s the greatest puzzle.”-Lewis Carol
5.Night falls fast.Today is in the past.”-Edna St.Vincent Millay
Well-finally I just want to tell you that this book is worth reading especially for John Green’s fans!I give this book four stars from five !
